Blog 5 Interview

For this weeks blog post I interviewed an 11 year old girl. For background, she is always on her phone either texting, on facetime, or watching a video. She is always up to date with the latest trends and posting on her social media. 

The first question I asked her was what social media platforms she uses on a daily basis. The most used apps on her phone are Instagram, tiktok, and snapchat. The reason she uses these apps is to mainly keep in touch with friends, stay up to date with trends, and to take up time in the day. I was genuinely surprised when I asked about how often her school talks about internet safety. She told me there has only been one conversation she remembers from the past few years. There had been a bullying incident in the school and the school just mentioned how cyber bullying is not acceptable and will not be tolerated. There wasn't much conversation on internet safety after that which is genuinely concerning. Children in today's generation are capturing their entire lives through their camera lenses and not being safe or cautious because no one is monitoring them or what they post. Following that, another question I asked her was what are the pros of social media? As she replied that you may become an "influencer" which you can start to earn money on the amount of likes and views that your videos get. Another pro of social media can also be, marketing your business which could is pretty much free advertising for your business that millions of people could potentially see. In all social media can be looked at as a positive or a negative in which way you use it, interact with it, view it, who you follow / what you follow. Social media can help you market a business or ruin a "certain reputation" of yourself. You are in control of your life whether its through a camera lens, an app like Instagram or TikTok or simply text messages.
